The early-attrition default bands come from HRBench national percentiles (approximate cross-industry benchmark, not specific to your business — see footer).

This estimates replacement cost — recruiting, onboarding, and lost productivity while backfilling the role — not the salary already paid to the person who left. Gallup cites roughly 0.5–2× annual salary per departure as a scaling proxy for that replacement cost, depending on role seniority and hiring difficulty. Default 1.0× is a starting judgment call, not a benchmarked standard — this whole card is a rough estimate, not a precise cost.
